DMP Leans Into Manufacturing Costs
Since 1988, Diversified Metal Products (DMP) has been providing quality mechanical contracting and fabrication services, focusing on the nuclear industry with specialized capabilities in alloy component engineering, fabrication, integration, and installation.
The Project
Manufacturing Specialists from TechHelp, a member of the MEP National Network™, worked with the DMP management team to support their Lean Manufacturing transformation during the summer of 2007 with a basic Lean overview for leadership. Lean manufacturing helped DMP complete 5s projects in three shops, process mapping and kaizen mentoring improve DMP’s Embed process, and the E3 (Economy, Energy, Environment) Pilot Project improved the company’s air delivery system to more efficiently meet current and future needs. By September 2011, DMP improved processes and efficiency in material handling, storage, and the flow of the yard.
