The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Great Lakes Environmental Research Lab (GLERL) are a multidisciplinary environmental research laboratory that provides scientific understanding to inform the use and management of Great Lakes and coastal marine environments, such as tag deployments. The necessary components for these tag deployments include products equivalant in form, fit, and function to 48 Innovasea acoustic release receivers (VR2AR-69khz) and 1 live acoustic receiver (RX-LIVE 69 kHz) and the necessary supplies (e.g. cable, VR100 Surface Transponder). These receivers will record pings from tagged fishes within range of a given receiver in the Lake, recording the time and information from any other sensors with which the tag is equipped, which is one of their core missions in the lab. Taken together, the receivers will detect nearby tagged fishes in Lake Michigan. This will include fishes tagged by other research projects as well as from planned NOAA tag deployments. These data will provide new information regarding the habitat preferences and movement patterns of the fish community in Lake Michigan. The GLERL requires receivers like the Innovasea VR2AR-69khz and RX-LIVE 69 kHz to support their data collection in the Great Lakes.

The Cooperative Research Branch (CRB) Collaborative Gulf of Maine Bottom Longline Survey has been an important industry-based research effort in operation for the last 10 years. The survey has contributed to stock assessments for 10 species as well as life history and other studies. This survey samples 45 smooth and rocky-bottom stations with longline gear throughout the Gulf of Maine twice per year (90 total stations with 1000 hooks set per station). Due to the nature of fishing and loss and damage to parts of the gear such as hooks, it is necessary to keep a supply of hooks on hand for replacement and repairs, as well as to replace the hooks before each survey season. The survey uses about 16,000 hooks annually. Requesting a hook similar in form, fit, and fashion to S.L.I.C. Int. Gra-Tin Special Design E-Z baiter, high performance semi-circle 12/0 hook. The S.L.I.C. Int. Gra-Tin Special Design E-Z baiter, high performance semi-circle 12/0 hook is made from high carbon steel with a diameter of 1.9mm, a prime cut point, and prime tin finish with a ring eye. The eye is straight for easier mounting on the longline.

NOAA is acquiring a spare or additional part (FLOW sensor and spare batteries for FLOW sensor) of a Scanmar trawl monitoring system currently aboard the vessel. The FLOW sensor is deployed in the trawl. It communicates with hydrophones on the vessel, which then relay the data signals to the Scanmar processor/computer onboard.
